December

In December, our students had fun painting on canvas and selling their artwork for a fundraiser. Thank you to all parents who participated and supported their child in their art endeavors. In January students will practice working with clay and will work on making and decorating pinch pots.

January

Upper grades (3rd-6th) will learn 7 Elements of Art and will incorporate that knowledge in their work.

February

In February, children will work more on drawing and painting insects, animals, birds, and nature. They will also work on a project, painting an image with acrylic paints, on a flat stone. We will also work more on creating complete compositions - landscape and still life.

What we will be doing in the second and third Quarters

As you know, this year we are following Creation process from Genesis. Each month we are working on drawing and painting things in order in which God created them.

  • ‍In December we will work on a painting on canvas for the annual fundraising art sale.
  • ‍In January students will be learning to draw and paint more plants and some animals and insects. They will be working with clay in making pinch pots.
  • ‍In February students will continue drawing animals. They will work on breaking complex forms into simpler shapes and practice shading to create 3-D look. They will also work on a stone project.
  • ‍In March students will work on drawing still life paintings and will work on a collage project (not Kindergarten).
  • ‍In April, students will work on drawing portraits, human figure with right proportions, and figures in motion.
  • In May, students will compose and work on their final project, incorporating their accumulated knowledge.
